1. Consume Less Calories

Yes, the main goal of all weight loss programs is lowering your calorie intake. It does not matter how you choose to do this; you can break your meals down and eat six smaller meals a day, you can try a vegetarian diet, you can only eat during an eight hour period each day do whatever works best for you. The main thing to remember is to count your calories and make sure you are achieving a good calorie deficit each day.

2. Stay Cool

Your body burns calories trying to maintain an internal temperature of 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. This is called thermogenesis, and you can use it to your advantage. A few ways to take advantage of thermogenesis include:

Try wearing less layers of clothing during the winter.
Instead of drinking warm liquids drink cold water.
Lower your thermostat during the winter.
When taking showers turn more of the cold water on.

It is difficult to say how many calories you will burn this way as there are many factors involved such as how cold your body becomes and how much natural energy your body burns to keep it warm. Experiment with the variables to see what works best for you.

3. Get Regular Exercise

Exercise is the best way to lose body fat. It allows you to burn more calories, and in conjunction with a smart diet is a crucial aspect of any weight loss program. Include weight training and aerobic exercise in your routine for best results. Keep your workouts short but intense; performing 30 minute workouts 6 days per week is ideal for maximal fat loss. You can alternate between resistance training and aerobic workouts each day.

4. Be Patient and Stay On Track

When you get to the point where you are only a few pounds away from having a ripped body things can get complicated. If you cut calories too low you will lose muscle mass but dieting moderately will take more time. Going to extremes here is a mistake slow and steady wins the race when it comes to getting ripped.

Take it slow and consume a diet you enjoy on a regular basis. This will slowly but surely get you to your goal and allow for an easier transition into maintenance mode. This process does take patience and self control, but this approach has proven to be effective time and time again, and is the best way to ensure that you reach your fitness goals.
