Effective Fat Burning Workouts

September 22, 2013 admin Exercise

Every day millions of people around the world head to gyms, recreational centers and health clubs to get in a good workout and hopefully lose some weight. There is a lot of confusion about what type of exercise is best for fat loss, due in no small part to the thousands of weight loss programs out there that all seem to offer conflicting information.

Exercising for fat loss is not rocket science but if your workouts fail to meet a few specific criteria, you will likely experience disappointing results. For best results, make sure the following principles are part of your workout program.

Focus on Burning Calories

The more calories you burn in a workout, the more body fat you will lose. This means that any good fat loss workout will put an emphasis on burning as many calories as possible. This is done by choosing demanding exercises that use several major muscles groups and minimizing rest periods between sets, as well as by incorporating moderate to high intensity cardiovascular exercise into your routine.woman working out

Frequent Workouts

Splitting you total weekly workout time into short but frequent workouts has been shown to be more effective than performing longer workouts less often. In other words, instead of working out twice per week for 90 minutes, perform 6 weekly workouts 30 minutes in length. The more weekly workouts you can fit into you plan, the better your results will be.

Resistance Training and Aerobics

For optimal fat loss your program should include both resistance training and aerobic (cardio) exercise. When combined, these two forms of exercise create a synergistic effect that maximizes fat loss. It is best to perform a short resistance training workout followed by an aerobic session, as the resistance exercise mobilizes fat cells, and the aerobic exercise will use them for energy.

Many gym-goers will simply head to the treadmill and perform their entire workout on one piece of equipment. This will inevitably result in unsatisfactory progress, so be sure to include resistance training like weight training or body weight exercises in your routine.

A Long Term Approach

Steer clear of “extreme” programs that promise extraordinary results in short periods of time. These programs are designed to take advantage of desperate individual. No exercise program will allow a normal person to safely lose 30 pounds in 30 days. A good fat loss workout program will consist of a sensible long term approach to control calorie intake through proper nutrition and burn extra calories through exercise. As you may have heard before, the average person will lose roughly 1-2 pounds of fat per week on a well designed program.

Permanent weight loss requires making permanent lifestyle changes. It is unrealistic to think that you could follow any routine for a few short weeks and get the body you want. You will need to start making better lifestyle choices today and keep making them tomorrow, and the next day, and so on. Fitness is not an 8 week project it is a lifestyle.

Best Fat Loss Workouts

Are you tired of boring workouts that really don’t seem to be helping those problems areas you have? If you do exercise regularly, but want to take it up a notch to help burn fat, then you might want to look into fat loss workouts. these are special workouts that are designed specially to help your body burn fat.

Another name of these workouts is called metabolic conditioning workouts. People use these kinds of workouts not only to drop fat, but the exercises also help tone up their muscles. Are you interested in starting a fat loss workout? Here are some examples of some fat loss workouts, and one of them just might be one that you are looking for.

gym work

Boot camp style: Boot camp fitness is something a lot of people are interested in because it involves a group setting. The reason it is so popular is not because it’s a group setting alone, another reason is because like boot camp that newly enlisted soldiers go to, boot camp workouts can be very intense. A lot of gyms model boot camp fitness after real thing, and people love the fact they are pushed to their limit.

Circuits or interval: The idea behind interval training is to keep moving. What happens is you are at one machine for between ten to fifteen minutes, and then a bell rings and you go to another machine. Most gyms have a special section of their gym with machines and mats in a circle so people can go around in the circle.

Physical education class style: This is basically the adult version of a physical education class like you experienced back in school. As a group, people do warm up exercises, then have timed intervals where you do a variety of exercises like running on a treadmill and other hard cardio exercises, then the end is a cool down period before physical education class is over.

Extreme Fat loss: These workouts are designed to be very fast paced. The average workout time is between twenty to thirty minutes, so you can imagine how intense the pace is. The intensity is deliberate to achieve maximum results.

Total Body Boot camp: This is another boot camp style fitness, however the difference between a total body boot camp and the regular boot camp style is this one is more specific for all of the problem areas like the abdomen, buttocks, arms, and inner thighs.

Kickbutt: This style of fat loss workout is specifically for the legs, arms, the core of the body, and buttocks. The exercises in this workout will help the body burn the fat from these areas.

Fat loss workouts are never boring because you literally have different ones to choose from including exercise that target specific areas of the body to high intensity workouts that resemble the kind of exercises the military uses to train their newly enlisted soldiers. Though no matter which of these intense workouts you choose, you will get the results you need in a faster amount of time.

Muscle Building Workouts

Building muscle mass does not have to be as complicated as some make it out to be. By following a few basic principles of muscle building workouts, you can start adding new muscle to your frame within a few short weeks. Below I will discuss these principles and lay out a sample muscle building routine that works.

When it comes to building new muscle, there are two important things for you to consider resistance training and a healthy diet. Good training is necessary in order to stimulate muscle growth, while eating a healthy diet can help your body’s tissues regenerate throughout training. All muscle building routines should emphasize these two crucial factors.

Tenets of a Good Muscle Building Program

If your primary goal in a weight lifting program is to build new muscle there are a few things that you will need to consider if you want to implement an effective exercise routine.

Multi-Joint Exercises – These types of exercises work several muscle groups at once. A few good examples include the bench press, squats and pull ups. The main benefit offered by multi-joint exercises is that aside from building new muscle, they also stimulate testosterone production.

Heavy Resistance – In order to encourage quick muscle growth, you will need to make sure that the amount of weight you lift is between 67% and 85% of your maximum lift. This level of resistance seems to be the most effective means of increasing muscle mass; and there are two reasons on why this is the case? First of all, heavy weights stimulate testosterone production in your body, which in turn, leads to faster muscle growth. The second reason is that heavier loads lead to muscle fatigue, which is another important factor in building muscle.

Stimulate Muscle Growth – In order to achieve optimal muscle growth you’ll need to follow an intelligently designed resistance training program. The best way to implement this is with a basic weekly workout routine.

Here is an example of an effective split:

Sample Workout Routine

Monday: Focus on Legs – Squats and Calf Raises.Wednesday: Focus on the Chest and Torso – Bench Press and Shoulder Press.Friday: Focus on the Back and Biceps – Barbell Rows and Chin Ups.

Perform 8-12 repetitions for each set, with 3-5 sets for each exercise. Rest periods between sets should be 60-90 seconds. Each week try to increase the amount of weight you lift, as this will force the muscles to work harder and facilitate growth. Stick to a plan like this for at least 12 weeks and you should notice an increase in muscle mass.

Proper Nutrition

Your workouts will create the stimulus for muscular growth, but you must then provide the body with sufficient calories and nutrients for growth to occur. Protein intake must be adequate, as it is the only substrate your body can use to synthesize new muscle tissue.

Start with a 6-8 oz portion of lean protein and add some healthy fats and carbohydrates to round out your meals. Keep your water intake high as well 8 glasses per day is ideal.

Sleep

Sleep is an often overlooked part of the equation, but is vital to optimal muscle growth. Experts recommend a minimum of 7-8 hours per night. For a more comprehensive guide, you can learn about the Somanabolic Muscle Maximizer program.
